Product details for QNAP TVS 1282 i5 16G 12-bay NAS

QNAP's TVS-1282-I5-16G desktop NAS is a secure, efficient storage solution for your data. This TVS-1282-I5-16G NAS (network-attached storage) device, unlike normal external hard drives, can be integrated directly to your network. It also uses much less power than regular PCs and offers you over enough space for all your data. It is equipped with It has an Intel Core i5-6500 3.2 GHz processor. Several users can access the stored data simultaneously thanks to the high 16 GB RAM. You won't need to worry about long loading times with this model. You can incorporate the following data storage forms in this desktop NAS system: 0, 10, 6, 5 + hot spare, 5, 1 and JBOD. JBOD (or "just a bunch of disks") allows you to connect hard drives of various sizes to create a multi-drive storage system. Unlike RAID levels, you will not lose any storage capacity of the various drives you combine.

When using RAID 0, hard drives (ideally of equal storage capacities) are interconnected and work in parallel — this means a higher, faster performance as computer tasks are not handled by just one drive. However, there is no fault tolerance because data is not mirrored, which means this RAID level is better suited for high speed storage of large volumes of data. RAID 1 offers you high data security through data mirroring. A replica is created of all your data from one drive to another, meaning if one crashes you will still retain all of your information. This also means that the capacity of all your drives is halved because of duplicated content. For smaller NAS systems RAID 1 is an ideal option. Using RAID 5 means your data is split among multiple hard drives — when one drive has an error the data is copied and distributed to the other drives. With this method you can retain the storage capacity of all your drives. It's the ideal choice for larger NAS systems with more than three drives. When using RAID 6 you get higher data security, even if two hard drives fail, the system will still function.

Benefit from great quality and all-round excellent service, from the moment you order to the delivery of your purchase.
