Product details for QNAP TS-877XU-RP 4GB 8-bay NAS

With the TS-877XU-RP-1200-4G rackmount NAS from QNAP you can efficiently store your files and data. Unlike traditional external hard drives, the NAS (network-attached storage) device can be integrated directly into your network. This gives all computers connected to your network access to the device and data. It offers you ample storage space and needs significantly less power than regular PCs. The rackmount NAS device and is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 3.4 GHz processor. The 4 GB RAM allows several users to access data at the same time. This rackmount NAS system has the following data storage arrays available: 0, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6 and JBOD. JBOD (or "just a bunch of disks") allows you to connect hard drives of various sizes to create a multi-drive storage system. Unlike RAID levels, you will not lose any storage capacity of the various drives you combine.

When using RAID 0, hard drives (ideally of equal storage capacities) are interconnected and work in parallel — this means a higher, faster performance as computer tasks are not handled by just one drive. However, there is no fault tolerance because data is not mirrored, which means this RAID level is better suited for high speed storage of large volumes of data. When using RAID 1 your data will be mirrored from one drive to another so that if one fails you will not lose any information. This fault tolerance also means that your total drive storage capacity is halved due to duplicated content. For smaller NAS systems RAID 1 is an ideal option. Using RAID 5 means your data is split among multiple hard drives — when one drive has an error the data is copied and distributed to the other drives. With this method you can retain the storage capacity of all your drives. It's the ideal choice for larger NAS systems with more than three drives. RAID 6 offers you high data security and is still operational even if two hard drives in the system fail.

Experience great quality and all-round excellent service, from the moment you order to the delivery of your purchase.
